Kettle Moraine Lutheran opened state tournament play with a 1-0 win over Random Lake on Thursday.
The Chargers held the majority of possession, but struggled to find the net, squandering several opportunities in front of the goal.
The lone tally came at 22 minutes, when KML freshman Luke Willis calmly collected a rebound and drilled a shot off the post and in.
Random Lake’s intense play and hustle nearly won them an equalizer, but Charger keeper Joey Behm made several saves to keep his team in front.
KML held on for the win, advancing to the regional final game.
The Chargers will host the winner of Kohler and St. John’s NW Military Academy on Saturday, in what will likely be its final home game of the season.
