April 10, 2022 – Hartford, WI – The labor shortage for part-time and seasonal employees is affecting all businesses, including the City of Hartford.
Finding responsible individuals to manage the Hartford summer Park and Rec programs including the Veterans Memorial Aquatic Center has become nearly impossible this year.
As more and more businesses are facing the need to pay high school and college-age individuals upwards of $15 – $20 per hour for temporary jobs, the City Park and Rec along with Public Works are finding it nearly impossible to find employees who will take anything less.

The city has always looked to stay competitive with other communities for similar jobs, but the recent crunch has found us far understaffed in many areas. Because of this, management is looking at what normally-needed programs will no longer be available due to this labor shortage.
If you have free time this summer and would like to help maintain public services, consider working for Parks and Rec as a Summer Playground Manager or helper, aquatic center lifeguard or manager, or Public Works Streets employee.
