September 29, 2026 – West Bend, Wi – On September 28, 2026, the Washington County District Attorney charged Heng F. Lin (01/09/76) with one count of Arson to Property Other Than a Building, one count of Criminal Damage to Property, and one count of Disorderly Conduct.
It was September 25, 2026, at 10:20 a.m., when the West Bend Police Department received a report of a man inside the Pilgrim Lutheran Church located at 462 Meadowbrook Drive attempting to start an object on fire. The man left the church when confronted by church staff, however, was located a short distance from the church by West Bend Police Officers and taken into custody without incident.
According to West Bend Police Lt. Brian McAndrews, “It is the practice of the West Bend Police Department not to release police reports while there is an active prosecution. We do not want information released that could potentially compromise a fair and impartial trial.”

According to Wisconsin Circuit Court, Lin appeared in Judge Grant Scaife’s court on September 28, 2026 and the court ordered Lin held on a $25,000 signature bond. Preliminary hearing time limits were waived. The case was adjourned for position on preliminary hearing. Another hearing is scheduled for October 20, 2026 at 9 a.m.
