Man arrested for 3rd OWI reportedly told deputy “he told the deputy “it was his goal to be 3 times the legal limit, and if not, he would be disappointed.”

Dec. 20, 2016 – Village of Richfield, WI – The Washington County Sheriff’s Office arrested a 52-year-old Washington County man for 3rd offense drunk driving after he was involved in a two-vehicle accident in the area of Hillside Road and Maple Grove Drive in the Village of Richfield on Dec. 14, 2016 at 5:55 p.m.

The initial report was the man was trapped in the vehicle as a result of the collision.  The deputy arrived on scene and instructed the operator to roll down the window.  The deputy then reached into the car, unlocked the door and assisted the “trapped” man out of the car.

During the initial interview with the man, the deputy noted numerous signs of intoxication.  Additionally, the driver indicated he had been drinking beer before the accident.  When asked how many, he replied, “8, 10, 12, 14. I don’t know.”

While awaiting the results of the preliminary breath test done at the scene, he told the deputy it was his goal to be three times the legal limit, and if not, he would be disappointed.

The initial investigation revealed the subject rear-ended a delivery truck.  Neither driver was injured.
