Man arrested for burglary of Allenton church

Washington County Sheriff
Nov. 15, 2016 – Allenton, WI – The Washington County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a burglary that occurred at the Resurrection Catholic Church located at 215 Main St. in Allenton.

The incident occurred Sunday (11/13) at 12:18 p.m. when parishioners were in the basement of the church and heard loud noises coming from upstairs. One witness went upstairs only to come face-to-face with a man holding  a pry bar and one other male exiting the room where the safe is located.

The second male walked into a hallway behind the alter and disappeared. The subject holding the pry bar fled, but not before the witness was able to get a suspect vehicle description.

The information was put out over the police radio and a Wisconsin State Trooper locates the suspect vehicle in St. Lawrence. The only occupant, a 52-year-old City of Milwaukee man, was arrested where he remains in custody. The follow-up on the case continues.
