On Tuesday, March 1, 2016 at 2:32 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office was notified of a single vehicle roll-over accident in the median of I41 south of Hwy 33. A straight truck, driving by a 38-year-old St. Francis man, was southbound on I41 when the vehicle went into the center median and overturned.
The driver was pinned inside of the cab of the truck until emergency responders from the Allenton Fire Department were able to extricate him.
He was transported to St Joseph’s Hospital by Allenton Rescue with the assistance of West Bend Intercept. Despite being pinned in the vehicle, the driver sustained only minor injuries.
The investigation revealed the driver just merged onto southbound I41 from Hy 33 when he moved into the left lane and encountered heavy snow. The driver attempted to slow, but lost control and rolled the vehicle onto the driver’s side in the median.
One lane of traffic in each direction was shut down for approximately 2 hours to facilitate clean-up efforts. The accident remains under investigation and enforcement action is pending.
During the snow event yesterday (3/1) the Washington County Sheriff’s responded to:
20 Property damage accidents
2 Personal injury accidents
6 Disabled vehicles
19 vehicles in the ditch
