Man who spent night outdoors after slipping on ice on N. Main Street has died

Jan. 24, 2017 – West Bend, WI – Neighbors in Barton are mourning the loss of a friend after word came that the man who fell on the ice and spent the overnight outdoors has died.

On January 17, http://www.washingtoncountyinsider.com reported the man, locally known as Schnapps, who fell on the ice just outside Bagg End Tavern.

The man was walking on Monday evening. Friends said he apparently could not get up and every time he tried he slid further off the road. The 61-year-old reportedly hit his head and was found in the snowbank outside the closed tavern the next morning.

He was taken to Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee. Friends said he was walking and talking and appeared to be recovering. Word came down this morning that ‘Schnapps’ died.

Friends are being asked to keep his family in your prayers.

Services will be published when the information is made available.

  1. Prayers for his family. With police officers usually in that area, you would have thought that Schnapps would had been found before morning.
