Motorcycle pursuit terminated after speeds top 140 mph in FDL Co. | By Sgt. Brian Bednarek

May 5, 2026 – Fond du Lac Co., Wi – On May 3, 2026, at approximately 8 p.m. a Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Deputy attempted to initiate a traffic stop on a motorcycle for speeding and a license plate violation on Interstate 41 northbound near County Highway B in the Town of Byron.

As the deputy attempted to catch up, the motorcycle accelerated to speeds exceeding 130 mph.

The deputy activated emergency lights and siren, but the suspect continued northbound, increasing distance. The pursuit was terminated.

At approximately 8:03 p.m. a second deputy observed the suspect exiting Interstate 41 at South Hickory Street in the City of Fond du Lac. Upon noticing the deputy, the suspect re-entered Interstate 41 northbound and accelerated to speeds over 140 mph.

The deputy observed a license plate mounted beneath the seat at an angle, making it unreadable. The deputy was unable to obtain the plate number and terminated the pursuit near W. Johnson Street.

At approximately 8:06 p.m. a third deputy observed the suspect traveling northbound on Interstate 41 near Townline Road in the Town of Friendship.

 

After the deputy activated emergency lights, the suspect accelerated onto the left shoulder, passing a civilian vehicle in the fast lane. The deputy was unable to catch up and terminated the pursuit near Sales Road in the Town of Eldorado.

The suspect was last seen exiting Interstate 41 onto County Highway N. The suspect was not located.

Suspect Description:

  • Operating a motorcycle (make/model unknown)
  • Wearing dark clothing
  • Dark-colored helmet
  • Jacket with two distinct stripes running down the back

Still images from squad dash camera footage have been collected as part of the investigation.
