Museum of Wisconsin Art elects Linda Breshears Marcus to the Board of Directors | By Jennifer Turner

March 22, 2020 – West Bend, WI – Laurie Winters, Executive Director and CEO of the Museum of Wisconsin Art (MOWA), announced Thursday, March 19, 2020 the appointment of Linda Breshears Marcus to the museum’s Board of Directors.

“We are thrilled to welcome such an accomplished artist and philanthropic leader to our board,” said Winters. “Linda has an unmatched skill set and passion for the unique vision of MOWA. Her guidance and support will be invaluable as we continue to bring awareness to Wisconsin art and artists.”

Linda Breshears Marcus is a multi-disciplinary artist and fashion designer whose artwork has been exhibited across the nation, including MOWA. She was a contestant on season 16 of the hit reality television show, Project Runway, and is also the owner and designer of a high-end handbag company, Linda Marcus Designs, which she founded in 2009.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Marcus has been passionately involved in the arts as a trustee for the Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design (MIAD) and the Milwaukee Repertory Theater. In 2016, the Milwaukee Business Journal named Marcus to the “Women of Influence” cohort. Marcus curated and designed the inaugural contemporary art collection at the new Saint Kate – The Arts Hotel located in downtown Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Marcus has also been an avid supporter of the MOWA’s downtown location, MOWA | DTN, which opened in 2019 in the Saint Kate – The Arts Hotel. Before her career in arts, Marcus was an award-winning journalist who came to Milwaukee in 1993 to work as a morning news anchor for Today’s TMJ4. She has three children with her husband, Greg Marcus, CEO of the Marcus Corporation.
