New Year’s Day house fire in Hartford, WI | By Chief Paul Stephans

January 1, 2024 – Hartford, WI – The Hartford Fire and Rescue Department was dispatched to a house fire in the 200 block of West Prospect Avenue in the City of Hartford, WI, at around 1:08 a.m. on New Year’s Day.

A neighbor reported the fire.  The Hartford Police Department arrived on the scene first and confirmed the working fire.

Fire personnel conducted primary and secondary searches of the single-family residence and were able to control the fire quickly.

It was determined the residence owners were not home at the time of the fire.  No one was injured in the fire, but the house sustained major damage due to the fire.  Preliminary damage estimates are $175,000.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
Numerous area fire departments, Lifestar EMS, Hartford Police, Hartford Utilities, and WE Energies all responded to assist and handle subsequent Hartford incidents.
 The American Red Cross was notified to assist the owners.
