Newburg Village Board promotes staff in management succession plan

August 30, 2023 – Newburg, WI – The Board of Trustees on Thursday evening voted to fill the upcoming vacancies of Administrator and Clerk through internal promotion and plans to further consider how to fill the role of Treasurer.

Village of Newburg
Deanna Alexander has served as the Administrator/Clerk/Treasurer since 2019 when
the village found itself in a critical state of affairs and needed administrative realignment.
The roles were combined at that difficult time for ease of tackling the village’s long task
list efficiently.

Alexander was reconfirmed several times in her roles and succeeded in stabilizing the village’s administration, upgrading its accounting systems, implementing a
capital projects plan, and putting the beginning steps in place for the long-awaited
repaving of Main Street.

Alexander looks forward to taking on new endeavors when the present contract concludes
at the end of the year.

In offering a succession plan that would best meet the village’s needs, Alexander advised the Board of Trustees to separate the roles of Administrator, Clerk, and Treasurer and recommended two of her direct reports for promotion.

The Board of Trustees agreed and has named Nate Wendelborn to the role of Interim
Administrator. He will assume day-to-day management duties immediately while under
the counsel and training of the outgoing Administrator. Wendelborn has served as
Newburg’s DPW and Sanitary Director for several years and also serves as a Trustee in the
neighboring Village of Kewaskum.

Brandy Loveland Seelow has been promoted to the role of Interim Clerk. She will also
assume her interim duties immediately while under the counsel and training of the
outgoing Clerk. She has served as the Deputy Clerk/Deputy Treasurer for over a year
and holds an Associate’s Degree in Accounting.

Both of the promoted employees are Wisconsin natives and committed to Newburg and
the surrounding regional community. Alexander is optimistic about Newburg’s future,
“Things are moving in the right direction and I couldn’t be more pleased that members of
my team are ready to step up upon my departure. They have been excellent to work with
and I will support them every step of the way.”
