No injuries following house fire in Town of Hartford | By Sergeant Scott Hanson

April 27, 2020 – Hartford, WI – On Monday April 27, 2020 at approximately 5:05 a.m. the Washington County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call reporting a house fire in the 6600 block of Arthur Road in the Town of Hartford.

The home owner reported there was smoke and flames in the basement and the occupants were evacuating the residence.

The Hartford Fire Department was paged and quickly upgraded the structure fire to a working still level. Deputies from the Washington County Sheriff’s Office along with the Slinger Police Department responded to the residence to assist.

Upon arrival of the Slinger Police Officer it was determined that two of the residents had returned back into the structure in an attempt to put out the fire. A short time later they exited the residence unharmed.

The following fire departments responded to assist in fighting the fire; Slinger Fire, St Lawrence Fire, and Life Star Rescue. The fire was quickly brought under control and damage was confined to the kitchen/living room area around the fireplace. There were no reported injuries to fire personnel as a result of the fire.

An initial investigation revealed the fire most likely started in the wall near a fireplace which was used the previous evening.

Arthur Road was closed for approximately two hours to assist in firefighting efforts. Damage to the structure is estimated to be $95,000.
