Obit: Dorothy A. Schmidt (nee Krause), 87, of Richfield

April 9, 2017 – Richfield, WI – Dorothy A. Schmidt (nee Krause), age 87 years of Richfield, passed away Friday, April 7, 2017.

Dorothy was born on May 24, 1929 to Walter and Frieda (nee Burgardt) Krause.  Dorothy married the late Harvey A. Schmidt on June 14, 1950 on Flag Day.  Earlier in life, Dorothy volunteered many days to work in the health room for Slinger School District.  This later developed into a teacher’s aide position for which she retired from in order to care for her grandchildren. Dorothy was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Richfield and a longtime member of the Coney River Homemaker Club.

Dorothy is survived by her children Leslie, Kathleen (Tony) Schmidt and Annette Schmidt.  She is further survived by her grandchildren Jennifer Schmidt, Brandon Tutkowski, Jason Tutkowski and Katie Schmidt, son-in-law Wayne Tutkowski,  nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.  Preceded in death by her parents, husband Harvey, daughters Nancy and Gloria, siblings Clarence Krause, Edward (Katherine) Krause and Esther (John) Ziegler, sister-in-law Loraine (Roy) Schoeni.

A Funeral Service will be at 7:00 pm on Wednesday, April 12, 2017 at the Phillip Funeral Home Chapel of West Bend with Rev. Donald Koehn presiding.  Interment will be at First Presbyterian Church of Richfield.  Visitation will be at the funeral home on Wednesday, April 12 from 4:30pm until time of service (7:00pm).  Memorials are appreciated to First Presbyterian Church (2281 Hwy 164, Richfield, WI  53076), Richfield Rescue, or the charity or your choice.
