Obit: Edith L. “Toodles” Swenson, 83, of West Bend

Oct. 31, 2016 – West Bend, WI – Edith L. “Toodles” Swenson, 83, of West Bend, passed away on Sunday, October 30, 2016, at Ivy Manor, surrounded by her loving family.

 

Toodles was born on February 14, 1933, in Allenton, the daughter of the late Gerhard and Pearl (Hess) Eickman. In 1959, Toodles was married to Larry Swenson in Kohlsville. Larry preceded Toodles in death in 1989.

 

Toodles was employed by the West Bend Company and also by the West Bend School District. She was a longtime volunteer at the St. Joseph’s Hospital gift shop for many years and also created the floral arrangements.

 

Toodles enjoyed watching her grandkids play sports and also loved watching the Packers and Brewers. She was an avid sheepshead player and got together with friends numerous times throughout the week. Toodles loved traveling. She was a regular participant in the Washington County Craft Fair, famous for her towels and wash cloths. Toodles loved playing with her great grandchildren, often getting on the floor and playing with their toys, tickling and laughing with them.

 

Those Toodles leaves behind to cherish her memory include two children, Gini (Brian) Thelen and Jon (Deborah) Swenson both of West Bend; a step-daughter, Tricia (Gary) Sheldon of St. Cloud, Florida; seven grandchildren, Griffin (Kyle) Kopp, Kendal (Ross) Hausmann, Aubree (Adam Bradley) Thelen, Erik (Lauren) Swenson, Andrew Swenson and Jessica Swenson; a step-grandson, Matt (Julia) Denzer; four great grandchildren, Connor and Morgan Kopp, West Hausmann and Madison Swenson; two step-great grandchildren, MacKenzie and Olivia Denzer; a sister, Lois Cissoko of West Bend; other relatives and friends.

 

In addition to her husband and parents, Toodles was preceded in death by her brother, Fredrick Eickman.

 

A funeral service for Toodles will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 3, 2016, at the Myrhum – Patten Funeral Home, 1315 W. Washington Street, in West Bend. Rev. Bill Dushek will officiate and cremation will follow the traditional service.

 

Toodles family will greet relatives and friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 3:00 p.m. until the time of service.

 

Memorials to the Washington County Humane Society or the Threshold are appreciated.

 

The family would like to extend their appreciation to the staff at Ivy Manor and the staff at Serenity Hospice Care for the attention and care provided to Toodles.
