Obit: Fanny P. Sommerfeld, 92, West Bend

Oct. 29, 2016 – West Bend, WI – Fanny P. Sommerfeld (nee Saarloos), age 92, passed away on Thursday, October 27, 2016 at Cedar Lake Health and Rehabilitation Center.  She was born in Iowa on January 4, 1924 to Bastian and Nellja (nee Ziel) in Hospers.  She married Kurt W. Sommerfeld on March 28, 1942 in Watertown.  She was employed as a welder at West Bend Company.

Fanny enjoyed cooking, baking, sewing, gardening, doing crafts and playing cards.  She especially loved spending time with family.  She was a member of the Senior Center.

She is survived by her sons, Max, Sam (Amy), and Mike (Michelle); grandchildren, Jill (Tim) Sommerfeld, Jack (Tracy) Sommerfeld, Lee (Michelle) Sommerfeld, Mike and Beth Weidman, Valerie King, Samantha (Ron) Murchek, Chad, Kate, Adam, and Tayler Sommerfeld, Grant Kiekhaefer; 13 great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law June Sommerfeld; son-in-law Tom Weidman and sister Tillie Radermacher.  She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Fanny is preceded in death by her parents; husband Kurt; son Mark; daughter Donna Weidman; sisters, Lucy Robinson, Maria Livingston, Jeanette Schmidt; brother William Saarloos; and brothers-in-law, George Robinson and Herbert Livingston.

The Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, November 1, 2016 at 6:00 PM at the Phillip Funeral Home Chapel (1420 W Paradise Drive, West Bend) with Rev. Rich Vincent presiding.  The visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 1st from 4:00 PM until the time of service at 6:00 PM.  Interment will take place at Oak Hill Cemetery in Watertown.

The family would like to thank the staff at Cedar Lake Home and the Countryside Unit for all their loving care and attention they provided to the family.
