Obit: Howard Popp, 89, West Bend

Oct. 28, 2016 – West Bend, WI – Howard E. Popp age 89 of West Bend died Wednesday, October 26, 2016 at the Kathy Hospice. He was born March 18, 1925 in Milwaukee to John and Maude (nee Lindstrom) Popp. On June 1, 1946 Howard was united in marriage to Delores Scheunemann in Milwaukee.

Howard proudly served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. Following their marriage Howard and Delores lived on Okauchee Lake for 11 years before moving to Milwaukee. He worked for American Motors for 30 years. After his retirement they moved to their cabin in rural Marinette County where they enjoyed the outdoors through hunting, fishing and snowmobiling. In 1997 they moved to the city of Marinette before moving to West Bend in 2011.

Howard and Delores enjoyed traveling all over this country, especially to New York and Connecticut to visit family. They also enjoyed spending their winters in Las Vegas and Arizona for many years.

Howard is survived by his wife of 70 years, Delores, 2 children: Beverly Wilch of Marinette and Kathleen (Robert) Fox of Jackson, 3 grandchildren: Travis Wilch, Jamie (Nick) Budiac and Crystal Johnson and 6 great-grandchildren. He is further survived by his brother Donald (Musette) Popp of Hartland, 2 brothers-in-law: Howard Scheunemann of Oconomowoc and Vern Taschner of Golden Valley, AZ and nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Maude Popp, his parents-in-law: Walter and Meta Scheunemann, his son-in-law Randy Wilch and 1 brother and 1 sister.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 1, 2016 at 6 p.m. at the Schmidt Funeral Home in Jackson with Rev. Charles Raasch officiating. The family will greet relatives and friends at the funeral home from 4 p.m. until 5:45 p.m.
