Obit: James “Jim” Langnes, 79, Slinger

James “Jim” Leonard Langnes, age, 79, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 20, 2016 in Slinger, WI.  He was born to Herbert and Lucille (Nee Snyder) Langnes on March 30, 1937 in Milwaukee, WI.  Jim was raised in Rockfield, WI and graduated from Prescott High School in 1956.  He married Diane Gleesing in 1960 and together they had two children.

Jim worked at Tecumseh Products in Grafton for over 25 years. He served in the United States Army from 1956-1958 active duty and in the Army Reserves as a Sergeant from 1958-1962.

Jim is survived by his daughter Ruth (Tom) Gund, his son Kenneth; 1 brother, Robert; sisters, Judith (Reuben) Schowalter, Phyllis (Elwood) Olson, Sandra Peterson and Karen (Lenny) Herek; grandchildren, Ashly Langnes, Clara and Katie Gund; step-grandson, Gary (Laura) Williams; 3 step-great-grandchildren. He is further survived by dear friends, David and Helen Schowalter. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents; 3 brothers, Harold, Herbert and William; sisters, Virginia, Shirley, Lucy and Myra; sisters-in-law, Nina Langnes and Delores Langnes; daughter-in-law, Beverly Langnes.

A Memorial Service will be held at 7:00PM on Friday, July 22, 2016 at The Phillip Funeral Home Chapel (1420 W. Paradise Dr. West Bend, WI) with Pastor Sharon Stier presiding.  Visitation will be at the funeral home at 5:00PM until the time of service.  Private family interment.

In lieu of flowers, memorials appreciated to the Faith United Church of Christ (2895 Slinger Rd. Slinger, WI 53086)  or Allay Home & Hospice Inc (325 N. Corporate Dr. Suite 260, Brookfield, WI 53045, Attn: Allay Cares, Inc.
