Obit: James “Jim” W. Schaub, 59, of Kewaskum

kewaskum

James “Jim” W. Schaub, 59, of Kewaskum, was called home to be with his Lord unexpectedly while up north at his cabin on Saturday, October 22, 2016.

Jim was born on June 29, 1957, the son of the late Homer and Mary (nee Slesar) Schaub and on June 4, 1983, he was united in marriage to Tracey Schleif at St. Lucas Evangelical Lutheran Church in Kewaskum.

Jim started his career in construction at Jack Walters & Sons.  In the mid 1980’s he started his own business called Jim Schaub Home Improvement where he served many local families and businesses.  Jim was a member of the Kewaskum Fire Department for 30 years and was a rescue squad driver.  As a fireman in Kewaskum Jim participated in launching the annual 4th of July fireworks.  He was a member and served on the National Wild Turkey Federation Committee and also belonged to both the New Fane and Campbellsport Sportsman’s Clubs.

Jim enjoyed hunting, fishing, trap shooting and sharing his passion for all of these with the younger generations.  Whether it was helping with Jakes Fishing Days, Annual Youth Hunts or Coaching the High School Trap Team and more.  Jim was always willing to donate his time and share his experiences.  If he wasn’t working or volunteering his time here in Kewaskum Jim could be found up north at his land in Wittenberg.  He was currently working on his and Tracey’s dream, a retirement home in the woods.  Jim’s greatest joys came from being surrounded by both his family and friends which he often treated with perfectly poured Old Fashioneds.

Those Jim leaves behind to cherish his memory include his wife of 33 years, Tracey; a son, Tanner Schaub of Kewaskum; three sisters, Jean (Ken) Crass and Judy (Mark) Biertzer both of West Bend and Jennifer (Daniel) Schroeder of Kewaskum; a brother-in-law, Jeff (Pam) Schleif of Germantown; two sisters-in-law, Sue Boldig of Wittenberg and Sandy (Rick) Brown of Lenexa, KS; six nephews, Gabe (Elisa) Biertzer, Luke (Rachel) Biertzer, Matthew (Justin) Schroeder, Jacob (fiancé Kate) Schleif and Tyler and Travis Brown; six nieces, Sara (Jason) Hull, Kelly Crass, Ali (Aaron) Christ, Katie (special friend Tony) Schroeder, Dani (Matt) Zdroik and Megan Boldig; parents-in-law, Roger and Joyce Schleif of Campbellsport; a hunting friend, Ralph Miller of Elmore; a special canine companion, Karlee, other relatives and many friends.

In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by a nephew, Peter Schleif and a longtime canine companion, Boone.

A Memorial Mass for Jim will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, October 27, 2016, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 331 Main St., in Kewaskum with Rev. Edwin Kornath officiating.

The Schaub family will greet relatives and friends at the church on Thursday from 3:00 p.m. until the time of Mass.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family are appreciated and a memorial donation in Jim’s memory will be made at a later date.

The Myrhum Patten Miller & Kietzer Funeral Homes have been entrusted with Jim’s arrangements.  Additional information and online guestbook may be found at www.myrhum-patten.com.
