Obit: Jean M. Norlander (nee Starzman), 86, of Hartford. Jean taught numerous women to sew, holding classes in her home making quilts, wall hangings, jackets, and purses

Jan. 16, 2017 – Hartford, WI – Jean M. Norlander (nee Starzman), 86, of Hartford, was called home to be with the Lord on Friday, January 13, 2016 at her home with her family by her side.

She was born on May 8, 1930 to the late Everett and Viola Starzman in Milwaukee, WI. On July 29, 1950, she was united in marriage to Glenn Norlander in Milwaukee. Jean graduated from WCTC with a LPN degree and practiced at Cedar Lake Nursing home.

Jean’s passion was quilting and sewing. Jean taught numerous women to sew, holding classes in her home making quilts, wall hangings, jackets, and purses for numerous family and friends.

In 2000, Jean traveled with Northbrook Church where she was an active long standing member, to Rebusca, Brazil on a mission trip teaching women to sew their own clothing for themselves and the village of Vicosa.

Whether Jean was a Sister, Wife, Mother, Mother-in-law, Grandmother, Aunt, or Friend, Jean demonstrated to us all how to live a Godly life in an ungodly world.

Those Jean leaves behind to cherish her memory include her husband, Glenn Norlander; three children, Mark (Sharon) Norlander, Dan (Beth) Norlander, and Brad (Beverly) Norlander; 7 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren, sister Roseanne “Cookie” (Kenneth) Donahue, brother Jim (Mary) Starzman, and brother-in-law Keith (Shirley) Norlander.

In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by son Jeff (Vicki) Norlander, a grandson Adam Norlander, a sister Geraldine (Jerri) Starzman, and two brothers, Kenneth Starzman and John Starzman.

A private family memorial service will be held

The Myrhum Patten Miller & Kietzer Funeral Homes have been entrusted with Jean’s arrangements.
