Obit: John Joseph Clapham, 84, Saukville

Mr. John Joseph Clapham, age 84, of Saukville passed away at the Harbor Club in Port Washington on June 26, 2016. John was born on January 18, 1932 in Grafton, the son of Arthur and Anne (nee Beschta) Clapham. John attended St. Mary’s High School and Port Washington High School. He later went on to serve in the United States Marine Corps.

John enjoyed his 30-year career with the Grafton Post Office, where he was employed until his first retirement. John truly enjoyed the friends he met along his route. He then went on to work for Dyne Systems for 20- years before retiring once again. John was a proud member of the Grafton American Legion Post 355. He was an avid knife collector and a Concertina player. John was a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

John is survived by his wife of 61 years, Lorna (nee Mathews): children Ellen (Larry) Kniess, Carol (Jeff) Folz, daughter-in-law Martha Clapham: grandchildren Jack and Margaret Clapham, Jenna and Alex Folz, Gary (Kayla) Kniess and great-grandchild Jeffrey John Kniess. John is preceded in death by his son Daniel, grandson Jordan Folz: sisters Harriet (Lester) Hoffmann and Rita (Elroy) Scheer, brother Robert (Rosemary) Clapham. He is further survived by other relatives and friends.

John’s family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at the Harbor Club, Horizon Hospice and his Comfort Keeper care givers for all the care and compassion they provided John.
