Obit: Joyce Marilyn (nee Gauthier) Walters, 85, of West Bend. Joyce loved US history, especially the Civil War and WW II. Joyce liked to read Sue Grafton novels and play trivia games.

Jan. 4, 2017 – West Bend, WI – Joyce Marilyn (nee Gauthier) Walters, 85, of West Bend, passed away on Saturday, December 31, 2016 at the Samaritan Health Center, West Bend.

She was born on July 2, 1931 to the late Wildege and Dora (nee Mousseau) Gauthier in Nasonville, Rhode Island. Joyce lived in Rhode Island for half of her life. She graduated from St. Clare High in Woonsocket, Rhode Island. Joyce worked in the textile industry and waitressing. In 1976, Joyce started a career in stenography working at Zambarono Memorial Hospital in Pascoag, Rhode Island. On July 23, 1978 Joyce was united in marriage to Walter Miecielica. In 2008, Joyce and Walter just missed celebrating their 30th anniversary. In 1979 they moved to Cape Coral, Florida, where Joyce continued her career in stenography working for the city of Cape Coral. In 1998 Joyce and Walter moved to West Bend to be closer to their children and grandchildren.

After retirement and before moving to West Bend; Joyce and Walter traveled the country for three years visiting the United States Continental. Joyce loved United States history, especially the Civil War and World War II. Joyce liked to read Sue Grafton novels and playing trivia games. She enjoyed playing cards, and her favorite card game was Double Pinochle. Joyce loved to build puzzles. She loved genealogy and was able to trace her family back to 1700’s. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She will be missed by all who knew her.

Joyce is survived by her five children which include, Retired Colonel Wayne (Linda) Lemoi of Corona, CA, Kyle Lemoi of Ft. Thomas, KY, Caryn (Stuart) Jenkins of Phoenix, AZ, Jayne (John) Miecielica of West Bend, WI, and Sheryl (Robert) Carpetis of Scottsdale, AZ; two step children, Mark Miecielica of Ventura, CA, and Karl Miecielica of Key West, FL; six grandchildren, Garret Lemoi, Meagan (Tim) Cicciarelli, Adam (Sarah) Miecielica, Ejay Miecielica, Michael Miecielica, and Michael Carpetis; two great-grandchildren, Zach Cicciarelli and Rett Cicciarelli; a brother, Edward Gauthier; a god son, Kenneth (Beverly) Curtis; other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents, Joyce is preceded in death by her husband, Walter Miecielica and her son, Bryan Lemoi.

A memorial service, in remembrance of Joyce, will be held on Saturday, January 7, 2017 at 4:00 p.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 120 W. Paradise Dr., West Bend.

The family will greet relatives and friends at the church Saturday from 2:00 p.m. until the time of service.
