Obit: Kenneth J. “Ken” Erickson, 92

Kenneth J. “Ken” Erickson, 92, of West Bend, entered eternal life on Tuesday, August 23, 2016, at home while surrounded by his loving family.

Ken was born on March 7,1924, in Stonington, MI, the son of the late Charles and Hilma (nee Helm) Erickson and in 1949 he was united in marriage to Betty Baldwin in Milwaukee.

Ken served his country in the United States Army in both WWII and the Korean War.  It was in between tours where he was stationed in Milwaukee that he met Betty.   After his military service Ken worked as a Union Sheet Metal Worker in Milwaukee until retirement.

Ken enjoyed collecting stamps and coins.  His greatest joys came from spending time with his family on Sundays.

Those Ken leaves behind to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 65 years, Betty; five children, Charles Erickson of St. Cloud, Dwight (Heidi) Erickson of Kinross, MI, Kathy Erickson of West Bend, Valerie Erickson of Waupun and Karen Erickson of Milwaukee; 14 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; two sisters, Blanch Michael of Milwaukee and Marcella Treduo of Gladstone, MI; a sister-in-law, Cindy Erickson of Gladstone, MI, many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents Ken was preceded in death by three grandchildren, Charles Erickson Jr., Lilly Erickson and Eric Schmidt; a daughter-in-law, Bev Erickson; two brothers, Melton Erickson and Charles Erickson; four sisters, Margret, Marion, Hazel and Gladys (Rudy) Novack and two brothers-in-law, Cliff Michael and Jim Treduo.

A Funeral Service for Ken will be held on Saturday, August 27, 2016, at 5:00 p.m. at Myrhum Patten Miller and Kietzer Funeral Home 1315 W. Washington  St. in West Bend with Rev. Bill Dushek officiating.  Burial will be held on Monday, August 29, 2016 at Noon at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Union Grove.

The Erickson family will greet relatives and friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service.

The Erickson family would like to extended their heartfelt appreciation to the staff at Horizon Hospice for their wonderful care of Ken, especially Nancy, Lindsey and Tammy.
