Obit: Kenneth L. “Ken” Hefter, 90, of the Town of Byron

 

June 13, 2017 – Town of Byron, WI – Kenneth L. “Ken” Hefter, 90, of the town of Byron, passed away on Sunday, June 11, 2017, at Hope Senior Living in Lomira.

Ken was born on May 31, 1927, the son of the late Fridolin and Frances (Koll) Hefter in the town of Addison. On May 2, 1950, he was united in marriage to Florence VanBeek at St. Mary’s Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Barton. Florence preceded Ken in death on December 9, 2009. Ken was a lifelong farmer. He enjoyed polkas, dancing, playing cards, and snowmobiling.

Those Ken leaves behind to cherish his memories three children, Yvonne (Michael) Marrese of the town of Lomira, Lyle (Kathleen) Hefter of Lomira and Randall (Catherine) Hefter of the town of Byron; a brother, Eugene Hefter of Slinger; three sisters-in-law, Rosemary Fickert of West Bend, Shirley Hefter of Hartford, and Carol VanBeek Brinkmann of Waupun; a brother-in-law, Walter Schwartz of Allenton; 11 grandchildren, Tina (Ken) Johnson, Angela Stafford, Dave (Misty) Stafford, Christine Prahl, Kimberly (Bradley) Fahrenkrug, Brenda Hefter, Robert (Kaitlyn) Hefter, Craig (Kerstin) Hefter, Tim Hefter, Scott (Erin) Hefter and Jeff Hefter; 18 great-grandchildren, Taylor, Anita, Seth, Tanner, Drake, Kaydin, Kiersten, Keali, Alexander, Kate, Keyontay, Colt, Gavin, Benjamin, Karleigh, Jacob, Seth, and Wyatt, other relatives and friends.

In addition to his wife and parents, Ken was preceded in death by an infant grandson, Paul Hefter; two brothers, Harold and Joseph (Elaine) Hefter; two sisters-in-law, Ann Hefter and Agnes Schwartz and two brothers-in-law, Hubert VanBeek and Wesley “Ferdie” Fickert.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Ken will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 18, 2017, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 699 Milwaukee Street, in Lomira with Rev. Michael Petersen officiating. Entombment will take place on Monday at 10:30 a.m. at Shrine of Rest Mausoleum in Fond du Lac.

Ken’s family will greet relatives and friends at the church on Sunday from 1:30 p.m. until the time of Mass.

The Myrhum Patten Miller & Kietzer Funeral Homes have been entrusted with Ken’s arrangements.
