Obit: Maurice G. Bobholz, 87, of West Bend

 

May 31, 2018 – West Bend, WI – Maurice G. Bobholz, age 87 years, passed away Sunday May 27, 2018. He was born and raised in Friesland, WI. He attended Cambria- Friesland High School, and subsequently graduated from Fox Lake High School in 1951.

Maurice enlisted in the US Navy in March of 1949, and served 1 year active duty, and was in the reserves for an additional 14 years. He was honorably discharged in 1964.

He married Eunice Schultz on September 16, 1951, in Fox Lake, WI. They were married for 39 years. Eunice passed away in 1990. Maurice & Eunice lived the majority of their married life in West Bend, WI. Maurice was employed at GEHL Company for almost 40 years- first as a machinist, then later as a foreman and inspector. He also was employed part time as a deputy with the Washington County Sheriff’s Department for 25+ years.

While raising his family, Maurice was very active in the church- serving on boards and holding several offices. Maurice & Eunice were blessed with six children, and were fairly active as a family. They enjoyed both in and out of state camping trips each summer, and countless parades along the way. Maurice was a Packers season ticket holder since the early 60’s, and enjoyed many games over the years with friends and family. Maurice also enjoyed riding his Harley, a tradition which he passed on to his sons. Maurice and Eunice were subsequently blessed with ten grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren- which made Holidays and family gatherings a special time.

In 1997 Maurice married Joan Breneman, and relocated to Pardeeville, WI. Maurice and Joan were active in the Antique Tractor Club, and enjoyed taking one or more of his John Deere’s to the shows each summer. They loved to host family gatherings & cookouts – spending time & making memories.
Maurice and Joan were married for 19 years. Joan passed away in 2016. At that time, Maurice returned to West Bend and lived out his remaining years, near his family.

Maurice was a member of Good Shepherd EV Lutheran Church in West Bend, the GEHL Hexelbank Club, Harley Owners Group, and the Badger Steam & Gas Antique Tractor Club.

Maurice is survived by his children: Curtis (Susan) Bobholz, Patricia Steinhofer, Cyndi Lovett (friend, Lisa) , Barbara Cross (Robert Nettesheim) , & Jeffrey Bobholz; his 9 grandchildren: Jessica (Ben) Jacobson, Emma (Drew) Kopitzke, Dena (Adam) Weidner, Cody (Becky) Bobholz, Gregory (Kelli) Steinhofer, Glen Steinhofer, Jeni (Jon) Kierzek, Zachary (Stacia) Cross, Courtney(Isaiah) McGinnis; and 11 great grandchildren: Elise & Elena Jacobson, Kellen Kopitzke, Colton & Caiden Weidner, Maxwell & Mayzie Steinhofer, Logan and Layla Kiersek, and Emberlie & Jacqueline Cross.

He is further survived by his sister Norma Barnes, and his brother, James (Millie) Bobholz; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife Eunice Bobholz (12/22/1990) son Daniel Bobholz, grandson Justin Bobholz, and wife Joan Bobholz (10/11/2016). His parents, Alvin & Irene Bobholz, brother -Harold Bobholz, and sister -Helen Lindert.

A Funeral Service for Maurice will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday June 6 at Good Shepherd Ev. Lutheran Church (777 S. Indiana Ave. West Bend) with Pastor Robert Hein presiding. Visitation will be at the church on June 6 from 4 p.m. until time of service at 6:00pm. Interment will be at Washington County Memorial Park.
