Nancy A. Simon (nee Sonnenberg), of West Bend, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 25, 2016 at Cedar Ridge Community in West Bend, WI.

Nancy was born on July 27, 1934 to the late Lester and Dorothy (nee Wagner) Sonnenberg. She was raised in West Bend. On May 26, 1951 she was united in marriage to DuWayne Simon at Holy Angel’s Catholic Church, West Bend. Nancy and DuWayne had four children they raised in West Bend and lived 53 wonderful years together before DuWayne passed away in 2004.

Nancy worked 34 years at Tecumseh power products in Grafton retiring in 1998. Upon her retirement, she then cared and comforted her husband with his illness up until his death in 2004. She continued showing the kindness of her heart through the many charities she contributed to so less fortunate would have hope and comfort.

She was an avid sports fan who enjoyed all the Wisconsin teams and loved talking sports whenever the opportunity presented. She especially enjoyed talking sports with her young grandchildren who were just beginning to have new interests in sports themselves.

Those Nancy leaves behind to cherish her memory include her four children, Patricia (Richard) Mertzig of West Bend, Ron Simon of West Bend, Larry (Audrey) Simon of Oshkosh, and Randy (Brenda) Simon of West Bend; nine grandchildren, Jeni, Amy, Nicole, Ashley, Chad, Brett, Arin, Jessica, and Cody; 4 great grandchildren, Devin, Emma, Alex, and Hannah; great-great grandson, Samuel; sister, Barbara (Allen) Peters of Reedsville; many nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.

She is preceded in death by her father Lester Sonnenburg; mother Dorothy Gibson; husband, DuWayne Simon; sister, Janice Haessly; brother-in-law, Jerry Haessly; many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

A Memorial Mass in remembrance of Nancy will be held on Monday, October 3, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church, 1025 S. 7th Ave., West Bend.

Family will greet family and friends Monday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass.

A special thank you to the entire staff at Cedar Ride Community for the care and comfort given to our mother.
