Richard O. Dueck, age 75 of Hartford, passed away on Saturday, August 27, 2016 at his home.
He was born May 24, 1941 in Hartford to Otto and Lucile (nee Severtson) Dueck. He married Sharon Roethle on May 24, 1975 at First Methodist Church in Hartford.
Richard attended Hartford High School, Layton School of Art and UW-Oshkosh. He was a proud Veteran serving his country in the U. S. Marines during the Vietnam War and then Honorably Discharged. He was a member of the Hartford Masonic Lodge and the Courtney-Carr-Milner American Legion Post #19. He worked at Micro Design/Anacomp Corp. as an optical engineer until he retired. Richard served on the Hartford Jt. 1 School Board for 2007-2011. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, community activities, gardening, listening to Wisconsin sports, Chinese buffet (esp. Wonton Soup!), listening to saucy western stories from the Library of the Blind, and causing a ruckus wherever he went. He was always tinkering at something-there was always a project. Despite his often eccentric and tough exterior, he cared greatly for his family, friends, community and country. He loved photography and studied it in school. He took great pictures and could figure out lens apertures even after his eyesight failed him.
He is survived by his children, Danna Dueck of Roseville, MN, Daniel (Melinda), Douglas (Tricia), all of Hartford; 5 grandchildren, Drew, Skylar, Ariah, Siena and Dominic. Brothers and sisters-in-law, Leroy (Debra), Rita (Robert) Gehring, Clarence (Sue), Carl (Linda), Paul (Kathy), Barb (Perry) Justman, Phyllis (Francis) Merkes, Jerome (Karen ), Denise (Henry) Becker, Trish Roethle and Janet Rettler. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other loved relatives, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Sharon, his son Derek in 2015, Parents-in-law Norbert and Marcella Roethle, brothers-in-law Melvin Roethle, Albert Roethle, Jeff Rettler and Kenneth Roethle.
