Obit: Robert “Bob” C. Donath, 90, West Bend

Robert C. Donath died Sunday, May 29, 2016, at Cedar Community in hospice care at the age of 90.  Long-time resident of Big Cedar Lake and later of Slinger, WI.  Husband of Sharon (Miller) and father of Debra Ansay.  He is further survived by son-in-law Michael Ansay, granddaughters, Kate (Ian) McCain and Rachel Ansay, grandson Nicholas Robert, sister Vivian Meerstein and nephews Robert (Marsha) and John (Judy) Meerstein.

Robert was born in the Town of Scott, Sheboygan County to Arthur and Clara (nee Weingartener).  He graduated from Random Lake High School, enlisted in the United States Navy and served in the Pacific Theater during World War II.  Upon returning from the service, he attended Lakeland College, graduating in 1952.  He was employed at the West Bend Company for more than 34 years as an industrial engineer.

Robert was a 32nd degree Mason and belonged to Tripoli Schrine.  He was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ in Slinger where he served on various boards and committees.  He married Sharon Miller on June 27, 1952 and they celebrated 62 years of marriage.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, June 4, 2016 at St. John’s UCC (520 W Washington St., Slinger, WI  53086) at 12:00 PM with Pastor Jim Schleif presiding.  The visitation will be held at the church on Saturday, June 4th from 10:00 AM until the time of service.  Private burial at Union Cemetery, Slinger.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. John’s UCC or Lakeland College (W3718 South Drive, Plymouth, WI  53073)
