Obit: Rodney H. Smith, 62, West Bend

smith-rodneyNov. 7, 2016 – Rodney H. “Tex” Smith of West Bend died on Saturday, November 5, 2016 at his home at the age of 62 years. He was born on May 31, 1954 in Houston, TX to the late Noel Smith and Mary Schiro-Busby.

In 1973, he joined the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. For the next 30 years, he served on their calf scramble committee. In 1990, he was invited to join the Delta Alpha Fraternity, which is the oldest fraternity within the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo.

From 2001-2002, he served as president of the fraternity. In recognition of his dedication and service to the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, he was awarded a Lifetime Committee Man Membership in 2003.

In 2003, Tex moved to Wisconsin, settling in West Bend with the love of his life Donna Domres. At this time, he started working for Gordie Boucher Ford Lincoln as a salesman. He later worked in fleet operations.

His favorite past-times included cooking, golfing and fishing.

Survivors include 2 children Christopher from Kauai, HI, Lisa (Dahvar) Hakimzadeh from Chappell Hill, TX; 1 grandson Dahvi; 3 sisters Marian Baxter of Galveston, TX, Sherry (Al) Tinerella-Austin of Seabrook, TX and Kathryn (Michael) Drymala of Ft. Worth, TX; Donna and her children: Brad (Becky) Domres of Kewaskum, Tyler Domres of West Bend and Craig Domres of West Bend; 5 grandchildren Grace, Moira, Makenna, Isley and Hazel; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

 

 
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Teri Lee (nee Yancey) Smith, 1 son Rodney, Jr., 1 brother Noel “Buster” Smith and his step-father Lindy “Bill” Busby.

The family will greet relatives and friends on Friday, Nov. 11 from 4 until 8 p.m. at the Schmidt Funeral Home in West Bend.
