Obit: Roger Crass

Roger E. Crass of West Bend died on Friday, February 5, 2016 at St. Joseph’s Hospital at the age of 78 years. He was born on July 14, 1937 in Tomahawk to the late Louis and Gertrude (nee Splettozer).

On November 29, 1959, he was united in marriage to Margaret “Marge” Beutner at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Tomahawk.

Together, they made their home in Tomahawk, and since 1976, have called West Bend home.

For many years, he worked as a comptroller in the automotive industry. In 2002, he retired from Crest Cadillac after more than 25 years of dedicated employment.

Roger was an avid fan of Wisconsin sports teams. He spent his free time at Silver Lake near Tomahawk, where he enjoyed fishing and camping with his family. He also loved music and passed on his talents to his children and grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife Marge; 5 children: Mark (Linda) of Fredonia, Michael (Pam) of Tomahawk, Kelly (Jeremy) Risch of Belgium, Shannon of West Bend and Colleen (Curt) Sommer of Blue Eye, MO; 10 grandchildren: Ryan (Stephanie Johnson) and Megan, Keith and Kayla, Jesse (Kayleigh Dlapa) Filo, Joshua (Allyson) Filo, Autumn Risch and Mitchell, Samantha and Jacob Sommer; 1 brother James (Lorraine) of Tomahawk; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Beverly Crass of Wausau, George (Donna) Beutner of California, Bernie Beutner of Milwaukee, Jeannie (Ron) Crass of Tomahawk and Joe Beutner of Tomahawk; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 5 brothers and sisters.

A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, February 12 at 4 p.m. at Holy Angels Catholic Church with Rev. Jerome Repenshek presiding. The Family will greet relatives and friends at the church on Friday from 2 until 3:45 p.m.

At the family’s request, in lieu of flowers memorials to JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Fund).
