Obit: Roger T. “Tom” Schultz, 85, of Shawano

   

April 25, 2018 – Shawano, WI – Roger T. “Tom” Schultz, 85, of Shawano, went on to join the love of his life, Dorothy, on April 23, 2018, with his loving family by his side.

Roger was born October 7, 1932 in the Town of Madge, Washburn County, Wisconsin, a son of the late John and Theressa (Dahl) Schultz. He attended school in Spooner, Wisconsin, graduating from Spooner High School. Following school he entered the United States Marine Corps where he served for eight years, two of which were during the Korean War. Upon returning from service, he settled in Jackson, Wisconsin. On December 6, 1952 he was united in marriage to the love of his life, Dorothy Van Beek in Sarona. She preceded him in death on October 15, 2017.

Roger’s career spanned forty plus years at Federal Foods in Thiensville, Wisconsin. He served in many capacities, retiring in 1995 as a lab technician. Following his retirement, the couple moved to Mole Lake, before settling in Shawano in 2006. Roger is a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Shawano. He was also a member of the Henry F. Gumm American Legion Post #486 in Jackson. He was an avid hunter. He loved traveling with his wife, bird watching, and feeding the squirrels. Nary a red squirrel escaped his wrath! More than anything, Roger looked forward to visits from his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include his children, Steve (Deborah), Brian, Kelly (Brian), and Bart (Stefanie); his grandchildren, Nicholas (Annie), Katie (fiancé Dominic), Alieke (fiancé Theo), Andrea (Jason), Amanda (Roger), Christopher (Lauren), Ross (friend Melissa), Timothy, Amanda, Daniel, Cassandra (friend Eric), and Colin; twelve great-grandchildren; his sister, Ruth Lombard; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Sheri Lee and Debora Ann; his brothers, Harris, John “Jack”, Eugene, and Kenneth; and an infant sister, Carol.

A memorial service for Roger Schultz will be held on Saturday, May 5, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Zion Lutheran Church in Shawano. Pastor Scott Ludford will officiate. Private family inurnment with full military honors will be at Christ Lutheran Cemetery in Jackson at a later date. Visitation will take place at the church on Saturday from 10:00 AM until the hour of service.
