Roland V. Bartelt age 92 of Hartford, Wisconsin passed away peacefully on Monday, May 9, 2016 at Lawlis family hospice in Mequon surrounded by his family.
He was born on February 14, 1924 to Fred and Kathrine (nee Schultz) Bartelt in Minnesota City, MN. He was united in marriage to Mary Lou Jensen on February 27, 1948 with whom they had 11 children together, she preceded him in death on November 15, 1996. On June 14, 1992, he married Delores Westerlund. Â She preceded him in death on January 17, 2006.
Roland served his country with the US Navy during World War II. He enjoyed hunting, gardening, and he especially loved Alaska.
Roland is survived by his loving children, Michael (Margaret), David, Jack (Kathie), Andrew (Darlene), Tom (Peggy), Patty Sue, Bill, Jeff (Ann), Julie (Mark) Daniels, and Marie Rivera; 23 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren. Brother and Sisters Janet (Kurt) Strohmeier, Penny (Harley) Wegner, Donald Bartelt and Lois Bartelt. Â He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Roland is preceded in death by his parents; son Stephen, and his brother Gilmer.
Funeral Services for Roland will be held on Saturday, May 14, 2016 at 12:00 p.m. at the Shimon Funeral Home (824 Union St. Hartford, WI 53027) with Rev. Douglas Stowe officiating. Family will greet relatives and friends at Shimon Funeral Home on Saturday, May 14, 2016 from 10:00a.m.-12:00 p.m.
Interment on Monday in Southern WI Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Union Grove, Wisconsin.
