Glass, 80, of Lomira, passed away Wednesday, February 8, 2017, with his wife at his side while in hospice care at Woodlands Senior Park, Fond du Lac, after battling cancer for two years. Rollie was born October 9, 1936, in Beechwood to Adolph and Edna (Schmidt) Glass. He was baptized at St. John’s E&R in the Town of Scott and was confirmed at Peace United Church of Christ, Kewaskum.

Rollie graduated from Kewaskum High School in 1955. He attended Lakeland College in Sheboygan and graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee with a bachelor degree in production management. In the early years of his career, he worked for Amity and Gehl in West Bend. He then worked as a master scheduler for Mercruiser—Mercury Marine in Fond du Lac before retiring.

Rollie married Lorna Schwingle at First Presbyterian Church, in Highland, Wisconsin, on January 1, 1984.  Together they operated The White Shutters Bed and Breakfast at Lomira for nearly 25 years.

Rollie had a passion for cars—old and new. He, along with his car show buddies, attended many auto shows. He loved detailing automobiles and trucks.  He also refinished furniture for friends. He loved animals and always had cats and dogs to greet him and Lorna at the door. Rollie will also be remembered for the gift he had of recalling dates of birthdays and events. He was the family historian, spending time tracing his family’s genealogy. He was an active member of Peace Church, serving as elder, deacon, Sunday school teacher and was a willing volunteer.

Survivors include his wife, Lorna; brother, Orville (Joan), Eden; brothers-in-law Lloyd (Ann) Schwingle, Platteville, WI; David (Ellen) Schwingle, Lawrenceville, IL; and Milo (Susan) Schwingle, Cuba City, WI; nieces, nephews, neighbors, and many friends. He was predeceased by his parents; three brothers, Norbert (infant), Elroy, and Marloe; two sisters, Irene Hinn and Viola Fritz; and three brothers-in-law, Albert Wesenberg Jr., Harold Hinn, and Reuben Fritz.

Visitation will be at Peace United Church of Christ, 343 First St., in Kewaskum on Saturday, February 11, 2017, from 10:00 a.m. until noon.  The funeral service will follow visitation at noon with Pastor Eric Kirkegaard officiating. Burial will follow at Peace Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Peace United Church of Christ-Kewaskum; Agnesian HealthCare Foundation-Hospice in Fond du Lac; or a Humane Society of the donor’s choice are appreciated.

The Myrhum Patten Miller and Kietzer Funeral Homes have been entrusted with Rollie’s arrangements.

Special thanks to Pastor Eric Kirkegaard, Pastor Bob Blackburn, Agnesian Hospice, Woodlands Senior Park, Dr. Michael Vander Kooy, Dr. Michael Jones, and Dr. Aaron Johnson.

Love, laughter, and memories—treasures forever.
