Obit: Verland H. Roll, 91

Verland H. Roll, age 91 years of Hartford passed away on Friday, February 05, 2016 at Froedtert Memorial Hospital in Wauwatosa, with his loving family by his side.

He was born on September 25, 1924 in Kekoskee, WI to Emil and Meta (nee Liscow) Roll. He was united in marriage to Bernice E. Miller on September 29, 1951 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Neosho, WI.

Verland farmed on the family farm for many years before moving in 1965. He then worked construction for the union for several years. Following his years of construction, he worked at the Hartford School system until his retirement. Verland enjoyed spending 16 winters in Arizona, traveling, cruise ship tours, polka festivals, baseball, football, watching movies. He especially loved gatherings and spending time with his family.

Verland is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, Bernice Roll of Hartford; loving children, Gary (Anne Koss) of  Theresa, WI and Cindy Roll of Hartford, WI:  cherished grandchildren, Jarrod  (Heather) Roll, Kevin (Joy) Roll, Amber Lacy (Corey Sali), April Lacy (Jessse Matthews) and Derrick (Jamie) Lacy, 10 great grandchildren, his dear brother, Donald (LaVonne “Dolly”) Roll of Mayville, and dear sisters-in-law, Joyce Roll of Mayville, Joanna Miller, Audrey Miller and Pat Miller. He is further survived by other relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Roman Roll, his siblings-in-law; Marvin, Merlin, Vernon and Donald.

Funeral Services for Verland will be held on Friday, February 12, 2016 at 4:00 p.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church (132 E. School Street Neosho, WI 53059) with Pastor Joshua Kesting officiating. Family will greet relatives and friends at the church on Friday from 2:00 – 4:00p.m.

Interment Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Hartford.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church Debt Fund (132 E. School St. Neosho, WI 53059) or to a charity of one’s choice.
