Obituary | August G. Utech, 93, of West Bend

November 19, 2019 – West Bend, WI –August G. Utech, 93, of West Bend, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 16, 2019 at the Waterford of West Bend.

He was born on August 30, 1926 to the late Arthur and Ida (nee Ramel) Utech. He graduated from West Bend High School in 1944. On June 19, 1948, he was united in marriage to Lillian Backhaus at St. John’s United Church of Christ in Beechwood. August and Lillian enjoyed dancing together and going on vacations. August and Lillian delivered meals on wheels. He honorably served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. August worked at the West Bend Company for many years until retirement. He loved gardening, grilling, and visiting friends and family on Sunday’s. August was a member and former commander of the Lt. Ray Dickop American Legion Post #36 in West Bend. Above all else he loved his family.

Those August leaves behind to cherish her memory include his daughter, Linda (Terry) Schaub; two grandchildren, Jennifer Schaub (Kevin) of Sparta and Nathan (Jeni) Schaub of West Bend; three great-grandchildren, Kaylee Bath, Gage Bath, and Mathew Schaub Jr.; a granddaughter-in-law, Jessica Schaub; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, August was preceded in death by his wife Lillian Utech; three sons; a grandson, Mathew Schaub; two sisters, Arlene (Richard) Stern and Deloris (Herbert) Abel; and a sister-in-law, Doris (Walter) Ebert.

A Celebration of Life for August will be held at 4 p.m. on Saturday, December 7, 2019, at Myrhum-Patten Funeral and Cremation Service, 1315 W. Washington Street, in West Bend.

August’s family will greet relatives and friends at the funeral home from 2 p.m. until the time of service.

The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at the Waterford and Heartland Hospice for all their help and care for August and Lillian.

The Myrhum-Patten Funeral and Cremation Service have been entrusted with August’s arrangements.
