May 31, 2022 – Hartford, WI – Robert W. “Bob” Picago of Hartford, Wisconsin passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 29, 2022, at the age of 90.
He is the beloved husband of Beverly (nee Czarnyszka) for 70 years. Loving dad of Carol (Alex) Bauer, Joseph (Linda Picago, James Picago, Jerome (Jean Krueger) Picago, John Picago and Catherine Speth Jahnke. Proud grandpa of seven grandchildren and adoring great-grandpa of four great-grandchildren. He also was the dear owner of the family dog, Kelly.
Bob went to Casimir Grade School and was a graduate of Don Bosco High School. He then went on to attend Marquette University for a short time before he was drafted. His service took him to Korea while in the United States Army and was honorably discharged as a Staff Sergeant. Bob was hired by AC Spark Plug division of General Motors Corporation upon returning home. He was instrumental in perfecting the Gyros System for the space programs and a 43-year loyal employee.
In retirement, Bob enjoyed his cabin in Three Lakes, Wisconsin with his family where his passion was fishing. An avid Wisconsin sports fan he enjoyed watching The Badgers, Brewers, and Packers. Bob loved his family and supported them. He never missed a sporting event of his children, grandchildren, or great-grandchildren.
There was no person that met Bob that did not think he was compassionate, loving, and a true gentleman. He is gone from sight, but never from our hearts.
Special thanks to the staff at the Gardens of Hartford during his residence and to the staff of Preceptor Hospice for their compassionate care for Robert during his illness.
