Obituary | Darrell Claud Bishop, “Deke”, 86, of West Bend, WI

March 9, 2022 – West Bend, WI – Darrell Claud Bishop, “Deke”, 86, passed away peacefully at his residence on Sunday, March 6, 2022, in West Bend, Wisconsin.

Darrell is survived by his sons, Jim (Sharon) Bishop of Austin, Texas and Jeff (Lisa) Bishop of Richfield, Wisconsin; his sisters, Sherry (Sung Kyu) Kim, of Saint Paul, Minnesota, Brenda (Fred) Dowling of Grand Rapids, Minnesota, and Muriel (the late John) Comeau of Fernley, Nevada; his brother Ken Erickson of Fresno, California; grandchildren Aaron Bishop, Jennifer (Micheal) Smith, Eric (Lauren) Bishop, Ashley Bishop, Taylor Bishop, Brendan Bishop; and one great-granddaughter, Adalind Bishop.


He is preceded in death by his parents; May and Claud Bishop; his wife, Lois, his sisters, Carol Bishop, Shirley (Owen “Ossie”) Sigler, Lynette (Donald) Soltau; and his brothers, Howard (Mary) Bishop, Neil (Charmaign) Bishop, and Arthur (Pat) Erickson.

Deke was born on November 21, 1935, in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Claud and May (nee Kinn) Bishop. He met the love of his life, Lois, on his first day in Antigo at the local bowling alley on March 24, 1955. They were married on January 7, 1956.


Deke served in the United States Air Force from 1954 to 1974. He was an electronics technician maintaining radar equipment at seven different bases including Germany, Canada, and Alaska. After retiring from the military, Deke worked for 20 plus years for Brunswick Bowling. He installed automatic scoring systems throughout the Midwest. The job also took him to places such as New Zealand, Singapore, and Brazil.

Deke enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He especially enjoyed playing cards, bowling, and travel. Deke and Lois lived in six states as well as Germany during a 20-year period. Much of that was while Deke was in the Air Force. They enjoyed numerous trips in their RV visiting a total of 47 states.

All are welcome to attend and celebrate Deke’s life.
