Funeral today, January 7, 2022 for David W. Hoffman, Jr., 78, of Jackson, WI

January 7, 2022 – Jackson, WI – David W. Hoffman, Jr., 78, of Jackson, WI, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 27, 2021, at Kathy Hospice in West Bend, WI.

He was born on August 9, 1943, in Marinette, WI, to David and Carrie (nee Andersen) Hoffman. David attended Coleman Highschool in Coleman, WI, where he enjoyed wrestling.

David dutifully served in the United State Air Force from 1962-1970 and served in multiple locations. While serving at Spangdahlem Air Base in Germany, he met the love of his life and wife, Reinhilde (nee Burg) Hoffman. They were married on October 1, 1965. David returned to the United States with his family in 1967, where he lived in Wichita, KS, and served at McConnell Air Force Base.

After David was honorably discharged from the United States Air Force, he started the next chapter of his life in Milwaukee, WI, before finally settling at his final home in Jackson, WI, in 1998. David started as an aircraft mechanic in the military and later in life became a heavy-duty truck mechanic.

He eventually owned his own trucking business for several years, Hoffman Trucking, Inc., and eventually his own truck repair business up until his death, Centerline Truck Repair, Inc.

David enjoyed deer hunting, fishing, gardening, and fixing just about anything. He absolutely loved God, his family, and living life. He was a member of the local American Legion Post 486 in Jackson, WI.

David is survived by his wife of 56 years, Reinhilde; eight siblings, Louise Bayer, Patsy (Richard) Rich, Grace (Kenneth) Bancroft, Wayne Hoffman, Susan (William) Bayer, Andrew (Barbara) Hoffman, Jerome (Allene) Hoffman, and Jeffery Hoffman; three children, Michael (Carrie) Hoffman, Carrie (Gregory) Cira, and Dana (Christopher) Geyser; his five grandchildren, Nichole Hoffman, Shannon Hoffman, Justin Cira, Johanna (Matthew) Champan, and Cassandra Geyser; his three great grandchildren, Jackson, Jordan, and Julian; many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and dear friends.

A Funeral Service for David will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, January 7 at the Phillip Funeral Home Chapel (1420 W Paradise Dr West Bend) with Pastor Charles Raasch presiding followed by full Military Honors. Visitation will be on Friday from 10 a.m. until 11:45 a.m. Interment will take place at Washington County Memorial Park Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Morning Star Lutheran Church in Jackson, WI, or Kathy Hospice in West Bend, WI, in David’s memory.
