Obituary | Dean Schwichtenberg, 63, of West Bend, WI

December 13, 2023 – West Bend, WI -Dean Schwichtenberg passed away unexpectedly in his home during the early morning hours on December 10, 2023 at the age of 63 years.

Dean was born on October 20, 1960 in Oshkosh to the late Helmuth and Donna (nee Ewert) Schwichtenberg. He grew up in the Town of Wayne and graduated from West Bend East High school in 1978 where he also played football.

He went on to attend technical college, and spent may years driving truck cross country. He then went into the recycling business and has done that ever since.

Dean loved doing deer and duck hunting with his son after they stopped at Sandy’s Café in Barton for breakfast.

He also had a passion for fitness, often working out multiple times a week with his many friends at the Kettle Moraine YMCA in West Bend. Dean was a loyal member of the Barton Sportsman’s Club for 45 years where he also shot in a trapshooting league.

Dean was so proud of his children and never failed to brag about them. Anybody who met him knew that he had the biggest heart despite seeming stubborn sometimes. He especially loved his cats, Mowzer, Peanut and Dodo.

Today Dean is survived by his wife of 27 years, Teresa Schwichtenberg; as well as by his three children: Christopher, Michael and Elaina Schwichtenberg. Dean is also survived by his two brothers, Jim and Scott Schwichtenberg and his beloved sister Jean Schwichtenberg. He also leaves behind many nephews and nieces, as well as their children, who he cherished. Dean is also survived by his mother-in-law Mary Dotzler. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his father-in-law Marvin Dotzler.

A gathering for family and friends will be held on Sunday, December 17 from 12 noon until 3 p.m. at the Schmidt Funeral Home in West Bend with a memorial service to follow at 3 p.m. with Chaplain Cheryl Matusiak officiating.
