September 20, 2019 – Port Washington, WI – Eleanore R. Fischer (nee Laufer), 96, of Port Washington died Friday, September 20, 2019 at the Lawlis Family Hospice in Mequon. She was born September 13, 1923 in West Bend to Lawrence and Josephine (nee Reiland) Laufer. On November 29, 1947 she was united in marriage to Kenneth Fischer at Holy Angels Catholic Church. Kenneth preceded her in death on October 25, 1977.
At an early age the family moved to a farm in the Town of Trenton where she lived until marriage. After their marriage they settled in the Newburg area until moving to West Bend in 1985. She worked at the West Bend Pharmacy for 17 years.
Eleanore enjoyed doing jig-saw puzzles, playing cards and playing BINGO. She was a very social person and loved entertaining family and friends.
She was a member of the National Society of Catholic Foresters Court #574 and the Christian Women’s Confraternity at Holy Trinity Catholic Church.
Eleanore is survived by her 4 daughters: Kathie (Jim) George of Armstrong, WI, Jean (Steve) Franke of West Bend, Sandra (Robert) Lynn of Kewaskum and Debbie (Jim Gallistel) Fischer, 6 grandchildren: Jessica Franke, Jamie (Jon) Thomas, Marni (Don) Wiggins, Rebecca Barrett, Keith (Karolina) Whitty and Pat Whitty and 8 great-grandchildren: Steven (Wendy) Tungate, Hayden Sekanick, Amayah and Isabelle Thomas, Ellie and Henry Wiggins and McKenzie and Kendyl Barrett. She is further survived by her great-great-grandson Silas Tungate and nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence and Josephine Laufer, her husband Kenneth Fischer, her grandson Brian Moser and her brother Edward Laufer.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, September 24, 2019 at 11:30 a.m. at Holy Angels Catholic Church with Rev. Howard Haase presiding. Burial will be in Holy Trinity Cemetery in Newburg. The family will greet visitors on Tuesday, at the church from 10:00 a.m. until 11:15 a.m. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred.
