Obituary | Elizabeth “Betty” Reuwsaat, 81, of Hartford

Jan. 22, 2019 – Hartford, WI – Elizabeth M. “Betty” Reuwsaat, nee Krause, of Hartford, formerly of West Bend, died on Tuesday, January 22, 2019 at The Kathy Hospice at the age of 81 years.

She was born on September 17, 1937 in Tripp, SD to the late Harry and Margaret (nee Reuland) Krause. On August 4, 1956, she was united in marriage to Wilbert “Wimpy” Reuwsaat at Holy Angels Church.  The couple settled in West Bend, where she made their home.

She enjoyed spending time working in her garden, baking, and being with family.  She also liked taking day trips with friends.

Above all else, she cherished her family.  She was a devoted wife, a loving mother, a proud grandmother, and loved playing with her great-grandson.

Survivors include 2 children: Jeffrey of Theresa and Dena (Edwin Horsch) of Slinger; 2 granddaughters: Tanya and Shannon (fiancé Jared Lisko); great-grandson David Brian; 4 sisters: Phyllis (Dewayne) Stiefvater of West Bend, Marcella (Eugene) Newman of Hartford, Carol (Mark) Schlenvogt of Fredonia and Mary Jo (Dwayne) Strege of West Bend; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband on March 14, 1994, and 2 sisters Dorothy (Norman) Otte and Bonnie Fick.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, January 25 at 5 p.m. at Holy Angels Catholic Church.  Burial will be Saturday in Pilgrim’s Rest Cemetery.  Visitation will be at the church on Friday from 3 until 4:45 p.m.

Betty’s family would like to extend a special thank you to the nurses and staff at St. Joseph’s Hospital ICU and M-ICU and also at Kathy Hospice for their compassionate care.
