Obituary | Harriet M. Berres (nee Troedel), 85, of West Bend

June 23, 2019 – West Bend, WI – Harriet M. Berres, nee Troedel, of West Bend died on Saturday, June 22, 2019 at the Cedar Lake Health and Rehabilitation Center at the age of 85.  She was born on January 23, 1934 in Barton to the late Walter and Anna (nee Goschey) Troedel.

On May 2 1953, she was united in marriage to Melvin S. Berres at St. Mary’s Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.  Together, they made their home in West Bend.

For 16 years, she worked part-time at the former Larson Furniture and then for 9 years at West Bend Mutual Insurance Company.  She also worked for Buck’s Kinn Catering for many years.

Harriet enjoyed the simple pleasures in life.  She could be found tending to her raspberry patch, loving caring for her flower gardens, or spending time with Melvin at their trailer in Oconto County where she loved to fish.

Survivors include her husband Melvin; 1 daughter Karen; 1 granddaughter Cindy; 3 great-grandchildren Lyndsey, Brookelynn and Jordan; brothers and sisters Alice Zettler of Boltonville, Clarence (Dawn) Troedel of West Bend, Harold (Judy) Troedel of West Bend, Arthur (Patricia) Troedel of Kewaskum, Arlene (Kenneth) Bair of Gainesville, GA and Marvel Ann (John) Labott of Chesterfield, VA; other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son David, 1 brother William Troedel, 1 brother-in-law Kenneth Zettler, 1 sister-in-law Belle Troedel and her parents-in-law Alois and Martha Berres.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 25 at 11 a.m. at the Schmidt Funeral Home in West Bend with burial following in Holy Angels Cemetery.  Visitation will be at the funeral home on Tuesday from 10 until 10:45 a.m.

The family has requested memorials to St. Mary’s Immaculate Conception Catholic Parish.
