Obituary | Jeanne E. Rapp, 86, of Slinger

March 1, 2019 – Slinger, WI – Jeanne E. (nee Wendlandt) Rapp, 86, of Slinger, WI passed away on Monday, February 25, 2019 at the Serenity Villa in Slinger surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on July 15, 1932 in West Allis, WI to Edwin and Ruth (nee Hoff) Wendlandt. Jeanne was baptized and confirmed at Woodlawn Lutheran Church. She graduated from Wisconsin Luth. High School and worked as a secretary for a real estate office and Allis Chalmers. She was united in marriage to Bernard Rapp on June 5, 1953.

While living in Port Washington, Jeanne was a member of Our Savior Luth. Church, Grafton where she was involved with the ladies aid, choir, and was on the church bowling team. Moving over the years transferred her membership to Crown of Life, Hubertus and to St. John, Woodland, and she continued to be very involved in those churches including Lutheran Women’s Missionary Society and leading Girl Pioneers.

She enjoyed her part-time jobs of driving bus for Kettle Moraine Luth. High School, playground duty at Friess Lake School, clerking at GrandDads Bakery, Hartford Parkview Clinic courier, and Jackpot Tours receptionist. Jeanne also volunteered at Alpha Life Resource Center in Watertown. A devoted grandmother, much of her time was spent with her grandchildren and attending their events and performances. She loved playing cards, bingo, her Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups, Werther’s, traveling, The Price is Right and other game shows but especially loved her family and her Lord and Savior.

She is survived by her daughters Naomi (James) Evenson of Gibbon, MN; Rachel (David) Zarling of Watertown, WI; Martha (Michael) Vieth of Hartford, WI; Sarah (James) Zarling of Sheboygan Falls, WI; Leah (Michael) Klein of Theresa, WI; and Miriam (James) Dais of Slinger, WI; 16 grandchildren: Joshua, Alicia, Matthew, and Philip Evenson; Renee (Jacob) Hanson, Michelle Zarling, Staci (Steven) Johnson, Marjorie Zarling, and Heather (Brayden) Leist; Lora (Ben) Holsbo; Mark (Peggy Jo) Moe, Leah (Ben Fry) Moe, Noah and Isaiah Klein; Amber (Colin) Hensey and Derek (Jacki) Komp; step grandchildren April (Tom) Rafko and Amy (Steven) Liberto; 6 great-grandchildren: Gabriel, Ivan, Warren, Carter, Nova, and Theodore; step great-grandchildren: Nattasha, Mary, Alexus. Josh, Ella, Parker, Quinn, Kameron, and Grayson; sister-in-law Elizabeth Rapp (and Robert Booton). She is further survived by nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

Jeanne was preceded in death by her parents; in-laws Jacob, Sr. and Elionora (Bernhardt) Rapp; husband Bernard, granddaughter Angel, sister Joyce Scherf, brothers- & sisters-in-law Alexander Scherf, Arthur and Laverne Rapp, Arnold and Mona Rapp, Dorothy and Al Brown, Jacob and Joanne Rapp, William Rapp, Russell and Marjorie Rapp, and Eleanor Feltz.

Memorial services for Jeanne will be held on Sunday, March 17, 2019 at 3:00 p.m. at St. Paul Ev. Luth. Church (799 St. Paul Drive, Slinger, WI 53086). The family will greet relatives and friends at the church from 1:00-2:45 p.m.

Inurnment in Arlington Park Cemetery, Greenfield, WI.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Alpha Life Resource Center, 313 E. Main St. Watertown, WI 53094

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff and nurses at Serenity Villa and to Horizon Home Hospice for their loving care of Jeanne.
