July 31, 2023 – Washington Co., Wi – Joseph “Joe” J. Netzel, 85, of Colgate, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 27, 2023, at Kathy Hospice in the Town of Polk.
He was born on March 6, 1938, to the late Ignatz and Helen (nee Wenta) Netzel in Crivitz, Wisconsin. On September 24, 1960, he was united in marriage to Judith Piper in Milwaukee, WI.
Joe honorably served in the United States Army from 1959 until 1963. He worked for the phone company for many years until retirement.
He was always happy to help anyone in any way he could and was quite the handyman. He could always find a way to fix just about anything. Joe loved the outdoors, working in his yard and tinkering with tech. Crivitz held a special place in Joe’s heart and he spent his time there relaxing, riding the trails on his ATV, and enjoying the scenery and visiting.
He especially loved spending time with family and friends and will be missed by all who knew him.
Those Joe leaves behind to cherish his memory include his loving wife, Judith Netzel; two children, Janet (Pat) Pomeranz, and James “Jim” (Heidi) Netzel; four grandchildren, Danielle (Brad) Warden, Ryan (Taylor) Pomeranz, Josh (Angela) Ferstadt, and Andrew Ferstadt; two great-grandchildren, Tayden and Collyns; a brother, John Netzel; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
A Celebration of Life in remembrance of Joe will be held at a later date.
