Obituary | Lawrence Fitzpatrick Waddick, 87, of Florida, formerly West Bend, WI

June 24, 2025 – West Bend, WI – Lawrence Fitzpatrick Waddick born to life 2/20/1938; to eternal life 6/13/2025 at 87 years old.

Lawrence

A resident of Bradenton, FL, he leaves his dear wife and friend, Arline Yesko Waddick after a marriage of 42 years. Larry started out life as the son of Carl Fitzpatrick and Angebelle Kenney Fitzpatrick, in Chicago, IL, but was adopted and raised by his aunt Marguerite (Kenney) and (James Waddick) after  the early death of Angebelle.

He had a Chicago Catholic upbringing and attended Marquette University in Milwaukee, graduating with a Law Degree. He went on to a practice in Milwaukee and then West Bend, WI. He served in the Army Reserve, and eventually became a Washington County Circuit Court Judge based in West Bend; in later years he did mediation work.

Larry was known for his love of aviation and was involved in the first Air Shows in Milwaukee. He became an amateur painter, photographer, and dog (Daisy) lover.

Early on he had a love of travel and adventure, camping, fishing and eventually travelled the U.S. with his wife Arline, trekking from Canada to Maine, out west then to Florida. It could be said that he inspired a love of travel and adventure to his children.

He was devoted to the celebration of his Irish heritage, would do a jig here and there, sing “Danny Boy,” often exclaiming “faith in Begorrah”, or by gosh, or golly. To his children he will be remembered as a bread, silver dollar and muffin baker, spicy pickle, popcorn and strange flavor shake maker. He tried his hand at carpentry and was ahead of his time in making his girls their own workbenches.

He is preceded in death by both mothers and fathers, and many sisters, brothers and cousins. Larry is survived by his children: Lynn F. Newman (Bryan), Virginia Waddick (Michael Zirkel), Patrick Waddick (Kristine), Michael Waddick (Lisa); and grandchildren:  Christian (Anna), Matthew, Brian, Benjamin, Emma, Lillian and Elliott. He leaves two great-grandchildren:  Carter and Lucas.

Irish Blessing: May the road rise to meet you. May the wind be always at your back. May the sunshine warm upon your face. May the rains fall upon your fields. And until we meet again, May God hold you in the hollow of His hand.
