Obituary | Wayne “Pickles” Gessner, of Richfield

Jan. 23, 2019 – Richfield, WI- Wayne A. “Pickles” Gessner went to meet his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ January 22nd, 2019.

Wayne died peacefully at the Kathy Hospice Center, where he received their loving care until the time of his passing. Wayne lived a very active life through the years. He retired from the railroad as an engineer of over 40 years, starting at age 17. He served in the Air Force for four years and traveled overseas. He spent some time in Spain, which he enjoyed very much. He loved traveling when he could, with his favorite Chevy blue van with over 300,000 miles on it. He loved the West with its mountains and valleys, and took many pictures of the beautiful sites he traveled to.

He settled in the Richfield area and became very involved with his many interests. He became a square dance caller, along with being a wonderful dancer. He held offices in various clubs that he belonged to. Some of them were the Creation Science Society and the Wisconsin Train Organization. He spoke at the County and State Fairs about God’s creation of the world and how we should respect and understand how to be more careful around trains and how to operate. He also attended classes at the Berean Bible Institute in Slinger to learn more about God’s word on a daily living basis. He loved feeding a multitude of various birds in his backyard and was diligent in taking care of them, as he watched them from his kitchen window. He also attended Kettle Moraine Bible Church in West Bend, as well as the West Allis Bible Church. His friend and pastor Les Takkinen will be conducting the funeral service for Wayne.

Those Wayne leaves behind are his son Timothy (fiancée Paula) Daughter Terri; Sisters Kathy Gessner, Diane (Bill) Richter, Joan (Paul) Schneiss; Brother Glenn Gessner; grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and many other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

A Funeral Service for Wayne will be held at 12:00pm on Saturday, January 26th at the Phillip Funeral Home Chapel (1420 W Paradise Ave, West Bend) A visitation will be held at the Funeral Home from 9:00 AM until 12:00PM.

The family would like to thank The Kathy Hospice in Jackson for their wonderful care of Wayne they provided during his stay.
