Fast forward 13 years and Stolz is turning his passion for skating into a career. At just 17 years old Stolz skated in the February 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing, China. He is now competing across the country in World Cup races.

Stolz is home for a couple weeks training at the Pettit National Ice Center in Milwaukee.  His dad is arranging a meet-and-greet where families from Washington County can meet Jordan and some of his friends including fellow Olympians Brittany Bowe and Erin Jackson

The skaters will be available to meet with kids and their parents on Saturday, January 7 and Sunday, January 8 after the races are done for the day. Saturday wraps up around 1:35 p.m. and Sunday’s races end around noon.

Stolz is also awaiting confirmation to see if the ice is clear so he will be able to skate with kids in attendance. Stay tuned.

“We started as a family, all four of us, skating around on the pond,” said Dirk Stolz. “We all did it as a family for exercise and the kids were racing me.”

Stolz said it is a “good family sport.”

“Everybody can do it,” he said. “It doesn’t matter what age you are. A few more people should come out and give it a try like we did.”

A schedule of the US Championships/Junior Championships is below. Stolz will be skating Thursday, January 5 – Sunday, January 8. The Pettit National Ice Center is at 500 S. 84th Street in Milwaukee. It’s a short 30 to 40-minute drive from the West Bend area.

Stay tuned as details are solidified on the meet-and-greet with the skaters. School groups are welcome.
