West Bend, WI – It was 1964 when Joel Hausmann’s father, Vince Hausmann, of West Bend, sent a photo of his neighbor’s horse ‘Lightning’ to Channel 6 in Milwaukee.
Hausmann was trying to garner a little publicity for the animal. He received a response from Channel 6 promotions manager Conrad Kaminski.
“Wagon Train” is a TV show we hope our local historian Dave Bohn will remember.
This was a show you would catch Greg Chmielewski watching during the midday in his lower-level office of the Idle Hour or Two. It was the classic 1950’s Western adventure as “a wagon train makes its way from St. Joseph, Missouri, across the Midwestern Plains and the Rocky Mountains to Sacramento, California,” (source wikipedia)
The show was full of classic stars like Eddie Albert, John Wayne, Bette Davis, Lon Chaney Jr., and Ronald Reagan.
