Paying respect on Veterans Day | By John Kleinmaus

Oct. 22, 2018 – Washington Co., WI – November 11 is Veterans Day and this year Veterans Day will fall on a Sunday.

Many have asked if we will still be holding our brief service that day, and the answer is yes.

Just as we always celebrate the 4thof July on whatever day of the week it happens be, our desire is to observe Veterans Day at the 11th hour of the 11thday of the 11th month.

Each year, it has been the tradition of veterans in Washington County to gather at 10:45 a.m. in the morning at Veterans Plaza on the corner of Fifth  Avenue and Poplar Street in West Bend.

At 10:50 a.m. a brief statement will be read followed by a moment of silence.

At 11 a.m. the siren will sound and the West Bend Veterans Color Guard will fire the traditional three round volley followed by the playing of TAPS.

Each year the number of citizens attending this brief service has increased and we hope this trend continues this year.

We are inviting all citizens of Washington County to stand with us as we remember our veterans.

Thanks for your support,

John Kleinmaus
