September 29, 2023 – Port Washington, WI – WashingtonCountyInsider first reported on this story when Gus the 23-year-old Giant Tortoise went missing a week ago. Today brought exceptional joy to Brittany Hudson of Port Washington, Gus’s owner, who announced via her Facebook page, “Praise God and Thank you to the community for all of your help and well wishes! We are over the moon happy to have our baby Gussy back home!”
It appears “Baby Gussy” was simply spending some personal time in the neighborhood and was quite good at his disappearing act. A neighbor called Hudson to report the tortoise was seen in his driveway while he was out mowing his lawn.

September 24, 2023 – Port Washington, WI – Brittany Hudson of  Port Washington is asking for help locating her pet tortoise which escaped its enclosure on Saturday, September 23.
My tortoise escaped from her enclosure today
Please help us look for her and bring her home
Her name is Gus “Augusta”
She is very friendly
She loves to hide in dark places
We live on E Monroe Street near the bike path
