The History Center of Washington County has a traveling exhibit on display that features military mascots and the difference they made to the troops.
This photo is from the 873rd Air Engineer Squadron during World War II. “While in France, Babe gave birth to a litter of puppies in her personal maternity tent.”

According to WPR, “This exhibit highlights heartwarming photos and text in a pop-up banner format. The exhibit is funded in part by the Wisconsin Humanities Council with funds from the National Endowment for the Humanities.
By viewing the display, the entire family will learn more about Wisconsin military history, the sacrifices of the soldiers, and the contributions of a variety of military mascots.
Come see one of Wisconsin’s most famous mascot, “Old Abe” the war eagle that led the 8th Wisconsin Volunteer Regiment into battle during the Civil War.
